I have to admit, I teared up when I heard about John McCain’s brain cancer diagnosis — perhaps that’s just the liberal snowflake in me — and I’m not the only one who had an emotional reaction to the news, with a rare bipartisan outpouring of shock and sympathy for the 80-year-old war hero and former presidential nominee. And now, just days after his surgery and learning about the aggressive form of brain cancer he’s fighting, he’s back on his feet and making the long cross-continental flight to return to the Senate for the embattled health care bill debate vote.

Of course, this all comes at a particularly poignant time. While the Arizona senator is battling cancer with great health care, he may be voting to kick-start the process of taking it away from millions of others. Let’s hope he does the right thing. Unlike, say, our “president” who denounced the former POW as “not a war hero” because he was captured — and now has the gall to Tweet this when his precious “Repeal & Replace” agenda is on the line.
So great that John McCain is coming back to vote. Brave – American hero! Thank you John.
