D’oh! Elon Musk’s Tesla Overshoots Mars’ Orbit and Hurtles Toward Asteroid Belt

Hope the airbag works.

Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster, which launched on top of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy yesterday, is going farther into the Solar System than originally intended. D’oh! Although the car was supposed to head towards Mars’ orbit, the rocket carrying the car appears to have overshot that trajectory and put the Tesla in an orbit that extends into the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

See, guys? This is what happens when a man refuses to stop and ask for directions.
