In a year when 20 women have accused the president of rape, assault and mistreatment, and an alleged child molester has the support of the GOP in his senate run, what do the Democrats pursue with a vengeance? Why, the resignation of progressive ally Al Franken, of course — before he’s even had the courtesy of the ethics investigation he ASKED FOR. While the senator has admitted to, and apologized for, taking a tasteless photo (pretending to grab Leann Tweeden while she was sleeping), he’s denied the accusations that he grabbed women during photo ops. Rather than allowing Franken to have due process and furthering the conversation about sexual harassment through an investigation and hearings, more than 20 Democrats publicly called for Franken’s resignation. Here’s a clip of them doing so:
Under the undue pressure, the Minnesota senator announced his resignation today, throwing deserved shade at Trump and Moore in the process.
“I, of all people, am aware that there is some irony in the fact that I am leaving while a man who has bragged on tape about his history of sexual assault sits in the Oval Office and a man who has repeatedly preyed on young girls campaigns for the Senate with the full support of his party.”
Which perfectly encapsulates 2017.
